Dear Friend and Fellow Patriot,
A joyous September to you. As school resumes, we hope that the expanded resources at our revamped Liberty Encounters Shop, including an exercise in learning about and documenting family history, a compilation of historical songs with lyrics, and recommended books and organizations worth following may be of aid.
Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Georgia's "First Fourth"
On August 10th, 1776, 8 days after the Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 representatives at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, the Declaration was first read in the Capital of Georgia; beautiful Savannah. 250 years to the day after this event, Aaron Bradford portrayed Georgia President and Commander in Chief Archibald Bulloch and relived this event with a son and others. Thanks to the City of Savannah, Coastal Heritage Society, Wormsloe Historic Site, and Chatham County Public Schools, throngs of Americans celebrated! News coverage of the event. Here is are excerpts of the Declaration in the footsteps of President Bulloch in Johnson Square.
On August 8th, Aaron and a son took part in a celebration at the childhood family home of the "Morningstar of the Revolution," Patriot Dr. Noble Wymberly Jones called Wormsloe Plantation. We read the Declaration, fired muskets in celebration, and burned an effigy of King George III, and played historic games. A grand time was had and 'twas a joy to return to sites and smiles of such incredible history.
Delaware's only Battle of the War for Independence
With the 249th Anniversary of the Battle of Cooch's Bridge freshly upon our calendar, we highly recommend this authoritative article by the Journal of the American Revolution entitled "Cooch's Bridge, Delaware's Only Revolutionary War Battle."
We are delighted to invite you to the following events:
*Wednesday, September 9th, from 6:45 until 9:00 in West Caln Township ~ Pilgrim to Patriot Presentation by Aaron and David Bradford. Explore how the Pilgrims illustrated the American principles of Freedom, Virtue, and Faith while hearing excerpts from Of Plimoth Plantation by a 12th generation direct descendant of Governor William Bradford! Event is free and open to the public.
*Friday, September 11th, from 5 to 9 PM in West Caln Township at Layton Park ~ America 250 Celebration. As this event was postponed from July 3rd due to excessive heat, we look forward to reading excepts of the Declaration of Independence and musket firing, leading march and drill with musket and sword, Colonial games, and dancing to live musket to accompany a community celebration featuring vendors, live music, and fireworks!

You are invited to a unique way to remember and honor those who served, both on and off the battlefield at this upcoming event:
*Saturday, September 19th, from 9:15 AM until 12:30 Noon in Newark, Delaware ~ Patriot Soldier Life History Adventure. We are excited to invite you to step back into early September, 1777, when 16,000 British troops landed in Elkton, Maryland, with their sights on the U.S. Capitol of Philadelphia. General Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette gazed from Iron Hill and dispatched a Corps of 800 Light Infantry to "cause as much trouble as you can."
Take part as a Patriot Soldier or Camp Follower to make ready for a defense, while keeping an eye out for prowling Tories. This thrilling adventures is for families (with activities recommended for ages 7 and older). Parents are invited to attend and serve as corporals of their children to make life long memories together. This event may be a fun and powerful time of remembering and honoring the sacrifices made for the 250th Anniversary of American Independence to be possible!
