In the spirit of Georgia's first newspaper printer and publisher, Mr. James Johnston, Liberty Encounters is delighted to begin our own humble Liberty Gazette! In 1761, Mr. Johnston settled in Savannah, having left his land of Scotland to start life in the New World of Georgia. He became the Colony's official printer and had a shop on Broughton Street. The first issue of the Georgia Gazette was published on April 7, 1763.
https://www.freemansrag.com/historical-ruminations/georgias-first-newspaper-the-georgia-gazette by Robert Michael Freeman has a fascinating description of the travails of Mr. Johnston and various versions of the Georgia Gazette. Please take a look!
We look forward to sharing true stories with themes of courage, conviction, and faith regarding liberty in American history. Based in beautiful historic Savannah, Georgia, Aaron Bradford is excited to proclaim liberty throughout the land, unto all the inhabitants thereof!
